Introduction to Spiritual Practices

Do you find yourself wanting rhythms of life that nourish emotional, spiritual, and physical resource, but aren’t sure where to begin? Have you ever wanted to develop a spiritual practice, but didn’t know where to turn for guidance? In this 8-week asynchronous introductory course, we’ll explore spiritual practices as accessible technologies of wisdom, connection, and creativity. Themes we’ll work with include breath/movement, prayer/connection, text/reflection, time/pace, ritual/space, dreams, pilgrimage, and ancestors.

We will work and play with various learning materials, which may include: weekly podcast/audio offerings, curated readings, practice suggestions, and regular Zoom gatherings. There will be opportunities to work with Esther one-on-one during and after the course. While there are suggested practices and learning materials to supplement your learning in this course, there is no required “homework.” You are welcome to come as you are and do what you can.

This course welcomes those who have no experience with spiritual practice, those who are curious but don’t know where to begin, and those who may have previously established spiritual practices.

Suggested contribution: $250 ($31.25/week). Sliding scale and limited free spots available. Zoom gathering times TBD. Registration open through March 2, 2025. Payment accepted at https://ko-fi.com/s/8aaebc8ad2.

Note on Course Fees

Why do you charge this much for a class?

I devote a great deal of time and care to these offerings, which includes researching and recording material for our collective learning; curating reading, podcast, and video selections; and offering space for group and individual processing. It’s work, and while I wish we lived in a world where I got paid in universal basic income and didn’t have to charge anything for this, I do have to make a living somehow! The suggested contribution reflects an amount that I feel honors the level of knowledge and experience I bring and the labor that I put into the process of teaching.
